Our little secret was always the magic
we conjured together journeying
towards sunset every summer
having been born under stars that would broker no argument
against the eternal companionship between my monkey and your pig
I can still whisper those old spells glowing gold and green with light
that dappled through the old growth conifers in my yard
and the leaves of the sweet-smelling magnolia in yours
I still hunt for charms in cold sand on the beach
pocketing smooth shards of stone and shell first warmed between my palms
And how grateful I am - to know how
to defeat even my whitest-boned demons
and scale my firiest mountains
using the magic you gave me that
I still believe in

Chores is a collection of eighteen hand-embroidered vintage chore coats, celebrating the beauty of earnest labor. Each piece is a vintage garment transformed through a unique pattern of hand-embroidery and beading, inspired by the unintentional yet beautiful splatters left on an old painting smock.

Because they are vintage pieces, each coat is slightly different in size, fabric, and condition.

16 Magic measures:

The fabric is a midweight cotton twill with lapis blue stitching, and has a worn-in, buttery hand-feel and soft drape. There is an interior pocket on the wearer's right side; the stitching around the pocket's perimeter is visible from the outside. It is in fair condition, previously mended with ultramarine blue zig zag stitching on both sleeves at the wrists, as well as some cosmetic fraying along all hems. There are three small holes along the left sleeve seam, and one small hole along the right sleeve. These are deliberately unaltered.

Please hand wash cold with mild detergent, and line dry. Warm iron on reverse with a little steam.
