With its playfully exaggerated ear-flaps-turned-skinny-scarf tails*, this hat seemed to defy categorization until it found its typological family in the chullo. Rather than take on a different or more generic name, the Trifle Chullo rightfully attributes the invention of its form to the traditional Andean style of hat.
The classic chullo has earflaps which can be tied under the chin to keep its wearer warm, and is typically made from vicuña, alpaca, llama or sheep's wool; it has been used in the Andean Mountain region by indigenous peoples for thousands of years and is still well-worn by Andeans today.
This cousin to the chullo has flaps long enough to wrap around your neck, tie over your head in a bow, or otherwise style however else you can dream it.
