Chores ᐧ 17 The Surgery
17 The Surgery
Dear bones,
When they cleft that void between
you and I I knew
it was for our repair
Yet from that moment we became two
by virtue of that foreign third
dark empty space pressed in between us
So now I have to learn to
love you in order to love
my self - separate as we are for now
The very act of stitching-together
splitting me from you down fresh seams
so neat they still sting

Chores is a collection of eighteen hand-embroidered vintage chore coats, celebrating the beauty of earnest labor. Each piece is a vintage garment transformed through a unique pattern of hand-embroidery and beading, inspired by the unintentional yet beautiful splatters left on an old painting smock.
Because they are vintage pieces, each coat is slightly different in size, fabric, and condition.
17 The Surgery measures:
Cross Chest | 24.5" (49" Bust) |
Body Length | 27" |
Sleeve Length | 24" |
The fabric is a midweight cotton twill with navy blue stitching. It is in good condition, with some surface scarring and light fraying across the front button placket. This detail is celebrated by the embroidery around it.
Please hand wash cold with mild detergent, and line dry. Warm iron on reverse with a little steam.
