Chores ᐧ 38 sisters
38 sisters
together we grow like the ocotillo
soft, and steady, and so slow we grow
Poem by Shaina Yang

38 sisters holds with her a delicacy of intention with every stitch and every bead — from the double-beaded points at her collar to the trails of embroidery tracing secret lines across the purplish blue of her only slightly-worn-in fabric. Inside, her lining is beautifully patchworked, mirroring and celebrating the multiplicity that binds together her namesakes, in whatever form they may take shape. Her Nicki Cherry charm beckons gently from her right side pocket, inviting its wearer to open their heart and join in the dance.
Materials
Vintage chore coat (cotton or cotton blend), patchwork lining constructed from antique indigo-dyed cotton fabric scraps, cotton embroidery floss, blister pearl and silver charm, glass beads
Measurements
48” bust, 26.5” length (high point shoulder to hem)
Blake (model) is 6'4" tall
Care
For coats — remove charm using silver clasp, then dry clean or hand wash cold with mild detergent and line dry, warm iron on reverse with a little steam. Interior button serves as extra support for the silver clasp, which can be reinforced or removed as needed. For charms — gently clean with mild soap, warm water, and a soft cloth. Avoid wetting charms for extended periods of time. If using silver polish, avoid pearl.
